The BMW SA Open Championship, proudly hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, celebrates its 107th edition in 2018, making it amongst the oldest national Open championships in the game.
This longstanding history combined with the caliber of former champions makes it one of the Sunshine Tour’s flagship events.
Co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and European Tour, any player ranked within the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking qualifies to play, and golfers earn points towards their Official World Golf Ranking and the Race to Dubai.
The field consists of 156 professional golfers who compete in the 72-hole stroke play tournament over four days.
The 2018 tournament will be played at Glendower Golf Club, which is widely rated as one of the best and most challenging parkland layouts in South Africa.
